Beloved Bronx cab driver, Reynaldo Luna, was allegedly stabbed to death by a jealous ex-girlfriend, who then sent photos of his bloodied body to family members and left chilling voice messages admitting to the crime. Accused killer, Mirda Degracia, who has been charged with killing Luna inside her Bronx apartment on June 23, also taunted another ex-girlfriend of his.

“I told you he was coming back to me,” she said. “He’s here with me, so who lost here, you or me? And who won? Look at the proof I sent you that he’s here with me.”

According to Luna’s family, Degracia’s “proof” was photos of his lifeless body, sent from his phone.

“She was sending them to nieces and nephews,” said Luna’s niece, Kelly Garces. “She sent it from his phone and her phone. She was sending pictures at 3-something in the morning. He was visibly injured. He was bleeding through his mouth. She sent three photos from different angles of how she stabbed him.”

Luna, 63, was found in the Soundview section of the Bronx with a stab wound to the chest around 9:40am on June 23, and rushed to Jacobi Hospital Medical Center, where he died, police said. A native of the Dominican Republic (DR), he was a loving father of three who cherished his family, relatives said.

Degracia, 52, is charged with murder and manslaughter. She was arraigned the next day and ordered held without bail.

Garces said Luna met Degracia in the DR when both “were very young,” but his family never thought the relationship was very serious and in recent years he maintained his own apartment in New York. She said her uncle broke it off, but Degracia recently began complaining that he owed her money.

“That day, she was calling him to come to her apartment to settle some debt,” Garces said. “I believe it was around $6,000 based on what my mother said.”

Earlier that morning Luna stopped by his sister’s apartment, had breakfast and left, promising to return for a big family dinner that evening, Garces said.

“My mother stayed up until 5:00 in the morning waiting for him,” she said. “She tried to call him but he didn’t answer. My mother was worried. [Degracia] was calling him consistently that day about the money that was owed. I think that was the reason he went there.”
