A man was arrested in connection with an assault that led to the death of a cab dispatcher in Manhattan. Jaime Rosario, 54, was taken into custody on June 24, on an assault charge, according to the NYPD.

The victim, Efron Patino, 53, was working the cab stand in front of the Riu Hotel on West 47th Street on June 18. He was assigning fares to cabs as guests came out of the hotel and for reasons currently unknown, he skipped Rosario, police said. Rosario aggressively confronted Patino and punched in him the face, knocking him unconscious. Patino fell, hitting his head on the concrete, and went into a coma. He passed away on June 27.

Upon further investigation, Rosario’s charge was dropped from second-degree assault to third-degree assault, and he was released on his own recognizance.
