The Holiday Season begins this month, bringing with it unique challenges during this time of year. The following tips will help you stay safe and make the most of holiday parties attended by potential clients over the coming months.

Thanksgiving Holiday Safety

Thanksgiving marks the beginning of holiday traffic, which brings approximately 100,000 additional vehicles into New York City on a daily basis.

  • Be patient, courteous, and considerate of all motorists to reduce road rage incidents. It’s also worth remembering that other drivers could be tourists who will park their vehicles in a garage and become a potential passenger. Tourists offer a tremendous boost to the city’s economy, so please show them appreciation by being helpful and positive.
  • Plan holiday dinners at the end of a work shift. Eating a large meal can make you drowsy, which can be as dangerous as driving while intoxicated.
  • Remember: New York City Traffic Department agents have the authority to issue summons for “blocking the box.”
  • There is an increase in people driving while intoxicated this time of year, so remain alert, vigilant and prepared to use your defensive driving skills.
  • Please be extra kind to passengers who may not have family with whom to celebrate Thanksgiving. Show them we are all family on Thanksgiving.

Holiday Parties

Holiday parties, in particular, add to the number of people driving while intoxicated, so please use extra caution throughout the Holiday Season.

  • Do your best to be more patient than usual with passengers who may be intoxicated. They are doing the right thing by following public service announcements and taking your vehicle for hire, rather than driving drunk.
  • Do your best to spread holiday joy as some passengers may be depressed for personal reasons. This not only helps your passengers, it will improve your own mood during these difficult times.
