Revel, the all-electric app-hail company and EV charging infrastructure provider, opened a 24/7 public charging station at Pier 36 (at 299 South Street) in Manhattan in September – the first of its kind in that NYC borough. The new site has 10 DC fast chargers offering NACS and CCS plugs, with charge rates up to 320 kW.
Revel’s network currently consists of 64 public fast chargers, but the company plans to expand to 300 chargers in NYC by the end of 2025, including a 60-stall station in Maspeth, Queens, and 48-stalls just outside of LaGuardia Airport, which would make it the largest charging station outside of any US airport.
Current Revel charging stations:
- Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn: 25 stalls
- South Williamsburg, Brooklyn: 15 stalls
- Long Island City, Queens: 14 stalls
- Lower Manhattan, Pier 36: 10 stalls
In addition to the stations planned for LaGuardia and Maspeth, the company intends to add chargers in Red Hook (20 stalls) and the South Bronx (25 stalls).
“Every single hub from Revel and other providers makes our city cleaner, greener, healthier, and more livable,” said NYC’s Taxi & Limousine Commission Chair, David Do. “Every hub also makes it easier for for-hire drivers to switch to an EV, save on costs, and put money back in their pockets.”
