The Transportation Alliance (TTA) named Ira Goldstein, CEO of The Black Car Fund (BCF), as its 2024 Advocate of the Year in September. Mr. Goldstein was also honored by Schneps Media, which added him to the Queens Power List Hall of Fame in October.
“Ira is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ tenacious advocate and representative of the industry,” explained Matthew W. Daus, former TLC Commissioner and IATR President. “He deeply cares about the industry and has continued his public service orientation after being the tech architect at TLC on so many innovative projects by effectively representing the black car and limousine industry in NYC, and through his adept management of the NY Black Car Fund, which has helped countless drivers.”
The TTA noted that, “This prestigious recognition is a testament to Ira’s tireless dedication, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to advancing the causes we all care deeply about. Over the past year, Ira has demonstrated exceptional leadership in navigating complex legislative landscapes, advocating for impactful policy changes, and rallying support across the political spectrum.”
The Queens Power List is an award honoring “the most influential movers and shakers in Queens,” according to Schneps Media. “It recognizes those named for their continued commitment, impact, and influence they have sustained on Queens’ existence over the past year.”
As CEO of the BCF, Goldstein oversees workers’ compensation benefits for approx. 100,000 independent contractor black car and limo drivers in New York state. The BCF also offers a safety net by providing non-work accident disability insurance, personal accident insurance, critical illness insurance, vision, comprehensive dental and other valuable coverage at no cost to the drivers.
