In June, both the New York State Senate and Assembly passed legislation extending the many FREE health benefits provided by The New York Black Car Fund to its eligible drivers. Due to a “sunset provision,” the legislation must be reviewed and passed every three years.
As of mid-June, the legislation authorizing The Fund to provide its suite of additional benefits to drivers, was still waiting for the signature of Governor Hotchul, who has until the end of the year to sign it. Experts at the Fund do not anticipate any issues, but we will keep an eye on this important legislation.
