Stress can affect anyone, but for-hire vehicle (FHV) drivers in NYC are particularly at risk, with devastating traffic, lockouts, impending legislation and other factors creating significant anxiety. On National Mindfulness Day, Sept. 12, the Independent Drivers Guild (IDG) reminded its members of the many resources available through the IDG Mental Health and Wellness Program, paid for by The Black Car Fund (BCF).

The program offers individual, couples, and family counseling; help accessing free benefits and services (SNAP, HRA, etc.), financial assistance programs and The Black Car Fund Drivers Benefits Program; Wellness Community Spaces, where drivers gather monthly to share resources, learn new skills, and support each other; and Wellness Advocates who help drivers meet their wellness goals.

Get started by calling (917) 594-4898 or emailing wellness@drivingguild.org. Meetings are free, with counselors that speak English, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Nepali, Hindi, Urdu, and Moroccan.
