In May, the Black Car Assistance Corporation (BCAC) emailed its members the MTA’s updated start date for congestion pricing, which is now planned for June 30. “Implementation of the congestion pricing tolls will start at midnight that Saturday, June 29, going into Sunday,” the BCAC explained.

“All of the tolling infrastructure needed for the plan has been installed across 108 locations,” the email noted. “However, it’s likely that the MTA will use trip sheet data in order to confirm trips into the CBD with passengers. This is good news because it ensures that traditional black cars will pay $1.25 per trip versus the $2.50 per trip that high-volume for-hire vehicles will pay.”

A new online portal lists those eligible for discounts or exemptions and allows people to apply: https://new.mta.info/tolls/congestion-relief-zone/discounts-exemptions
