In July, Revel announced plans to build a new “Superhub” of electric vehicle (EV) fast chargers in Port Morris – the first high-power EV charging port in a singular spot in the Bronx. The superhub will be home to about 30 direct-current, fast-chargers, which provide up to 100 miles of charge in just 10 minutes. The new station is a private investment by Revel, but will be available for public charging.

In the Bronx, EV charging stations are sparsely located – four level 2 charging stations are on Bedford Park Boulevard, Broadway, Dekalb Avenue and Putnam Place. Brooklyn has 16 stations, and there are 7 in both Manhattan and Queens. Staten Island currently has just one level 2 charging location.

Revel CEO Frank Reig said he hopes the new high-power chargers will help the Bronx cut down on emissions and increase the level of “green energy.” City officials say they want all New Yorkers to live within 2.5 miles of a fast EV charger by 2035.

Revel hasn’t yet set a date for the opening of the Port Morris superhub but is estimating it will be up and running sometime next year.
