New York City Tourism + Conventions reported that NYC tourism generated $74 billion in economic impact in 2023, from more than 61 million tourists (51 million from domestic travelers and about 10.8 million from international visitors). This marked a 14.9% increase over 2022 and is almost on par with the record set in 2019.

NYC’s tourism industry supports 380,000 jobs – from major hotels to mom-and-pop souvenir shops. Hospitality workers comprise almost 9% of NYC’s workforce.

“Our city is as vibrant as ever. New attractions, cultural offerings, restaurants, a welcoming arrivals experience and more have helped NYC remain a top destination for domestic and international travelers,” said New York City Tourism + Conventions President and CEO, Fred Dixon.
