The New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) hosted a toy giveaway in December at their Long Island City offices, where 1,000 toys collected by the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers (NYSFTD) were made available to TLC drivers and their families, free of charge.
“At this time of year, TLC drivers are often so busy shuttling New Yorkers to and from their own shopping trips that it can be hard to find time to do their own shopping, and this is just a small gesture to show our appreciation for their hard work,” said TLC Chair, David Do. “The NYSFTD has a remarkable history of supporting drivers. We’re grateful for the contributions and honored to be hosting the giveaway.”
“Our drivers work long hours, day and night, to support their families and keep this city moving. Operation Toys for Cabbies is about giving back and taking care of our own,” said Steven Rivera, NYSFTD’s president.
