A man is facing charges in the 2005 Windsor Locks cold case murder of a New York City taxi cab driver, police said in March. Mohammad Ali, 38, formerly of Brooklyn, is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder and accessory to murder following the fatal shooting of Mureed Hussain, 35, of New York, in 2005.
Windsor Locks police said that on the morning of Feb. 9, 2005, they went to the intersection of South Main Street and School Street for a report of a dead person. They found Hussain, who they determined was shot and killed. Windsor Locks police and Connecticut State Police began an investigation into the death, which became cold after several years, police said.
In February of 2024, Windsor Locks police reopened the case and developed suspects through the use of “advancements in forensic technology, interviews, canvassing, and a re-examination of evidence seized in 2005.”
