The number of international flights into New York and New Jersey airports slowed in February, with roughly 700 fewer foreign flights, compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data from The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. A decrease in flights from Canada is driving the trend, with inbound flights dropping 31.1% year over year – a tangible sign that travelers are not just bristling over tariffs and the combative rhetoric coming out of the White House, they’re changing travel plans.

International flights into both John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport dropped by 6.3% in February, compared to the same time last year (down to 7,331 flights from 7,828). International flights into Newark Liberty International Airport dropped by 5.8% year over year in February (down to 3,509 from 3,727). Transatlantic flights dipped by 6.7%, along with a 5.2% drop in flights from Central and South America.
