The International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) announced that their President, Matthew W. Daus, was again named among the 2025 Power Players in Transportation by PoliticsNY. Mr. Daus currently serves as Chair of Transportation Technology at the City University of New York – City College University Transportation Research Center, is Partner and Chair of the Transportation Practice Group at Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf, LLP, and is a former Chair of the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC). This recognition underscores his enduring leadership and impact on transportation regulation, technology, and policy, IATR noted.

In addition to Mr. Daus, several other esteemed industry leaders and IATR partners were also honored this year, including:

Ira Goldstein, Executive Director, The Black Car Fund. A dedicated IATR speaker and sponsor, Ira has played a pivotal role in advancing industry protections and benefits for black car and app-based drivers. His efforts helped set national standards for innovative worker protections and benefits in the for-hire vehicle (FHV) sector. Mr. Goldstein previously served as Chief of Staff at the TLC. His deep expertise in transportation policy and regulatory affairs has made him a key advocate for driver well-being and industry modernization.

David Do, Chair/Commissioner, NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission. Before leading the NYC TLC, Do served as the Commissioner of the Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) in Washington, D.C. A former IATR Technology & Innovation Committee Chair, Do has led significant reforms in the FHV industry, particularly in the areas of electrification, driver protections, and accessibility. He was honored as IATR’s Regulator of the Year in 2022, celebrating his contributions to advancing regulatory innovation and industry best practices.

Brendan Sexton, President, Independent Drivers Guild. A strong advocate for driver rights and well-being, Mr. Sexton has engaged with IATR as a speaker and sponsor, bringing valuable insights into labor protections and policy solutions for the FHV sector.

Matt Walsh, State Policy Manager, Waymo. As a representative of IATR sponsor Waymo, Mr. Walsh has been actively involved in discussions on autonomous vehicle deployment and regulatory frameworks to ensure safe and equitable integration of self-driving technology.
