According to the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission, green Boro Taxi passengers have the right to:

  • Not be refused service based on race, ethnicity, cultural background, disability, gender or sexual orientation
  • Travel with a service animal
  • Be driven to any destination in NYC, Westchester, Nassau or Newark Airport
  • A driver licensed by the TLC and whose license is displayed inside the vehicle
  • A driver who is safe and courteous and obeys all traffic laws
  • Pay a metered fare for trips that start on the street, with the option to pay by cash, credit or debit card
  • A quiet trip without horn honking
  • Receive a fare quote (for pre-arranged trips) from the dispatcher and pay that amount for your ride, unless the trip changes
  • A driver who does not use a cell phone (even hands-free) while driving
  • Clean air, free of smoke and scent
  • Request the driver adjust the heat, air conditioning and radio
  • A clean and safe taxicab with working seatbelts for all passengers
  • Not share a ride, unless you want to
  • Decide whether to and how much to tip their driver
  • Request a wheelchair-accessible vehicle
  • Take the most direct route to a destination or follow the route of your choice
  • A driver who knows city geography
  • Not pay an additional amount for baggage or help loading your belongings
