Police arrested a Queens man they said posed as a Livery driver and tried to rape a woman who mistakenly got in his car in August. David Ramones, 26, was charged with attempted rape and menacing for attacking a 39-year-old woman he picked up in front of El Gran Mar de Plata on Fulton St. at about 5 a.m. on Aug. 6, police said.
Ramones drove to a parking lot on Atlantic Ave., got into the backseat, pulled out a gun, began to beat and attempted to rape his victim, said police. The woman fought him off, so he got back in the driver’s seat and sped off with her still in the back. He eventually pushed her out of the car and she went to Jamaica Hospital to be treated for bruising on her face and chest, said police.
Police released photos of Ramones and were able to arrest him a couple days later, after receiving several tips, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea. Ramones is slated to be arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court on charges of attempted rape, sex abuse, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, court records show
