Scores of electric vehicles (EVs) have been showing up at dealer lots as their leases end. According to Joseph Yoon, consumer insights analyst at Edmunds.com, “I think right now is probably, in recent memory, the best time to buy a used EV.” In their series called Driving Into the Future, ABC7 offers the following advice for people assessing buying options for pre-owned EVs.
- Most reputable sellers are able to test an EV’s “battery score,” which shows its current condition, providing some peace of mind for buyers.
- Look for certified pre-owned vehicles, which tend to have better warranties.
- There are no more federal rebates, but check for local and state ones, on both EVs and home charging units.
- Avoid older or high-mileage vehicles.
