More people visited the Business Improvement Districts in Manhattan’s congestion relief zone in January than the same month last year, easing concerns the toll would deter visitors, data from the Economic Development Corp. showed. Roughly 35.8 million people visited the shopping districts below 60th Street in Jan., up from 34.3 million last Jan – a 4.6% spike.
Attendance at Broadway shows also spiked the last three weeks of January, with 751,356 people taking in a show – a more than 17% increase over the same time last year, according to data from The Broadway League.
