In June, The New York Black Car Fund (BCF) thanked its drivers for their hard work during the pandemic, as well as their continuing commitment to safety. “Looking back over this past year, the New York FHV driver community was hit hard. But you and your fellow drivers continue to show remarkable determination and strength,” the BCF stated. “Whether driving riders to get groceries, fill prescriptions or get to a vaccination clinic, you played a critical role throughout the pandemic… and we wanted to thank you.”
The BCF also commended those who participated in the New York State-Certified Enhanced Defensive Driving Course and reminded drivers that it provides FREE safety technology devices through its S.A.F.E. iD program.
Drivers have several free options. The first is a Scope onboard device (OBD), which measures driving habits and provides feedback that helps improve safety and save money on fuel. It also notifies them of special promotions and can alert the BCF in the event of an accident through an app. Drivers can also choose a Nexar Dash Camera for in-car safety or a VURO camera system, which provides multiple cameras, as well as an OBD.

“Thank you for not giving up, thank you for keeping our economy moving,” the BCF added. “We urge you to take advantage of our newly-expanded Drivers Benefits health and wellness program, which includes Dental Insurance, Vision Coverage, Telemedicine, IDG Mental Health and Wellness Support, discounts on Urgent Care and Prescriptions, and more, at NO COST to eligible drivers.”
