The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced another bus route will now be equipped with Automated Camera Enforcement (ACE). The 60-day warning period on the Q8 bus route in Queens began June 15.
With the addition of the Q8, ACE is now enforced on a total of 63 routes. More than 1,900 buses are now ACE-equipped, covering approximately 810 route miles. When violations are captured by cameras on multiple buses, the resulting video, images, license plate information, location, and time stamp details are securely transmitted to the New York City Department of Finance for review and processing.
Since its launch in June 2024, ACE has rapidly expanded, covering all five boroughs. The MTA says the program has shown measurable improvements in bus speeds, reducing traffic accidents, and keeping bus stops clear. Each corridor with active ACE has signage indicating that those routes are camera-enforced. More information can be found at mta.info/ace.
