This year’s recipient of The Transportation Alliance’s (TTA’s) Lifetime Achievement Award, Mark Joseph, will deliver a keynote speech at Mobilize 2019, The TTA’s annual convention & expo, October 16-19 at Bally’s in Las Vegas. As CEO of Transdev North America, Joseph grew the company to become the U.S.’s largest private sector operator of multimodal passenger ground transportation services.

Joseph’s reputation in the transportation industry began long before his arrival at Transdev North America. He started his career working part-time for his family’s company, Yellow Cab, in the 1970s. He will be honored in recognition of his deep impact on the for-hire passenger transportation industry. His keynote is expected to include his predictions for the future of the transportation industry.

“Mark is an inspiring example of how a business owner can prosper in this industry by taking big leaps with new and innovative business practices,” said Terry O’Toole, President of the TTA. “It’s these kinds of exemplary leaders that are the backbone of what our association is all about, where members can learn from some of the greatest success stories of our industry.”

The President and CEO of the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), Robbie Makinen, will also deliver a keynote at Mobilize 2019. KCATA provides more than 16 million trips throughout the metropolitan area. As CEO, Makinen has transformed the Kansas City region by bringing together five different transit systems under one umbrella called RideKC.

Prior to serving as KCATA board chair, Makinen worked for Ozanam Children’s Services, serving as director of its learning center where he recognized the critical need for transportation for its vulnerable population.

“Robbie hasn’t just transformed how Kansas City approaches paratransit service. He has helped transform the paratransit industry into an incubator for innovative transportation practices,” said O’Toole “Under Robbie’s leadership, KCATA has become a prime example of how a rider-centered service and technology can be one of a city’s biggest assets.”

Comedian and author of nine business books, Ross Shafer, will deliver a third keynote speech at Mobilize 2019. Shafer has earned six TV Emmys as a network talk and game show host. As a coach for leaders and teams, including 73 Fortune 100 companies, Shafer uses his specific blueprints for success in every job and every industry: a focus on cross-pollinating innovative ideas in emerging trends, shifting buying habits, and the motivation of workforces during mergers and acquisitions.

“Not only are we expecting Ross’s speech to be filled with humor and vigor, but we’re thrilled for the incredible business advice he will be sharing with those attending Mobilize 2019,” said Robbie Werth, President of the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Foundation. “Like our members, he knows the value of hard work and how it contributes to better service and professional success.”
