Thousands of New York City area Uber, Lyft and for-hire vehicle drivers and their families gathered together on July 19th at Corona Park in Queens for the Independent Drivers Guild’s (IDG’s) annual Rideshare Driver Appreciation and Family Day – the largest annual gathering of New York City for-hire vehicle drivers. The IDG calls it, “a day of celebrating the professional drivers who keep our city moving – and their families.”

“New Yorkers take more than half a million Uber and Lyft trips each day,” said IDG president, Brendan Sexton. “Our annual driver appreciation and family day is dedicated to the professional drivers who provide safe transportation and keep our city moving all year long.”

The event featured free food (burgers and halal), a live DJ, face painting, magic shows, balloon animals, comedy, games, and shaved ice for the kids, free parking, free health screening for blood pressure and diabetes, and free vision tests and glasses for drivers.

Guests included New York City Taxi & Limousine Chair David Do, New York State Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz, Mayor Eric Adams and Ira Goldstein, executive director of The New York Black Car Fund.
