Since opening their doors in the summer of 2023, DSW Auto Repair has seen a strong trajectory of growth from a loyal customer base, comprised primarily of drivers licensed by NYC’s Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC). In just two years, the company has gone from a small shop with three service lifts to a full-service station with nine fully operational lifts, plus a body shop, handling accident repairs and TLC inspection prep. The company has also become the only local Authorized Warranty Center for both FR Conversion and BraunAbility wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs).
Understanding the often-urgent needs of TLC-licensed drivers, DSW has state-of-the-art diagnostic and repair equipment, a crew of certified mechanics and keeps a vast inventory of common and hard-to-find parts onsite at their facility, located at 62-10 34th Ave. Woodside, NY 11377. They also recently expanded their hours of operation: Now open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The company’s staff speaks multiple languages, including Bengali, French, Spanish, Russian and Ukranian.
DSW does everything from oil changes, TLC pre-inspection services and basic maintenance on brakes, suspensions and emissions systems to bodywork, welding and complex repairs like engine replacements. As the city’s fleet of TLC-licensed WAVs has grown, the company has also evolved into one capable of handling all repairs associated, not only with their customers’ vehicles, but also the after-market parts and equipment used when one is converted into a WAV.
“We trust DSW to be our official repair center service for all of our vehicles, whether it’s a standard taxi, a Hybrid vehicle or a WAV,” explained one local, large fleet operator, who requested to remain anonymous. “They have all the equipment right at their shop to run full diagnostic checks and perform repairs, so they can identify issues and rectify them as quickly as possible. This is huge for the drivers in our industry. They need to get back on the road as quickly as possible, or they’re losing money.”
