  Judge Shoots Down TRO - Tax to Be Collected Starting June 1

On May 28, a frustrated New York City for-hire vehicle industry traveled to Albany to fight a tax they consider "unconstitutional" and point out its many "problems" to the judge. Unfortunately, Judge Roger D. Mc Donough denied the request, so this messy and confusing tax still needs to be collected starting June 1. That means every Black Car, Limousine and Livery driver and base needs to register with the NY Department of Taxation.



NY Tax on Black Cars, Limos and Liveries to Start June 1

Riders of Black Cars, Limousines and Livery Cars in New York State will be paying up to an 8.375% sales tax on service starting June 1.



TLC Passes New FHV Rules

The New York City Taxicab & Limousine Commission’s (TLC’s) “For-hire Vehicle Accountability Reform Package” passed in April, after weeks of intensive negotiations with local Livery, Black Car and Limousine associations, and despite pleas from some attendees at the TLC’s April meeting to postpone the vote for one month.
