An Uber driver was shot in Brooklyn on Aug. 21 during an altercation with a gunman on a bicycle. The driver, 30, was stopped, sitting in his car along Mermaid Avenue, between 23rd and 24th streets when the shooter rolled up to the vehicle on a bicycle, police said.
The two exchanged words, and the cyclist then pulled a gun and opened fire on the driver, striking him in the torso, according to police. The victim, who was driving a grey Honda Accord with Taxi & Limousine Commission plates, then drove off and flagged down police officers nearby. He was transported to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.
It’s not clear what prompted the altercation. The investigation was ongoing as of late August.
