A New Cassel man was arrested after stabbing a cab driver on the night of October 29, in Westbury, police said. According to Nassau County police, Sergio Ariel Guevara, 27, entered a taxi on Maple Avenue at 11:00pm, displayed a knife, and stabbed the driver, a 31-year-old man. Guevara then exited the taxi and fled.

When officers arrived, they found that the taxi driver sustained a laceration to his left arm and was bleeding excessively. A tourniquet was applied to stop the bleeding, and officers transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Guevara returned to the scene as officers were investigating; he was identified by a witness and arrested without further incident. He was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
