European business travelers called New York City their favorite intercontinental destination, according to a recent poll, with Amsterdam rating highest for destinations within Europe. The Cities & Trends 2023 study, conducted by corporate travel management company BCD Travel, was shaped by flight and car rental data collected across several European markets last year.
The study also showed that European business travel has strongly recovered from the pandemic, with expenditures reaching 96% of pre-pandemic levels – although some parts of the continent have had a more rapid recovery than others. European business travelers said they prefer U.S. cities for intercontinental travel, with NYC being the top destination, followed by Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.
