New York City’s Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) announced a new driver renewal course that features an array of enhancements to modernize and revitalize the agency’s curriculum. The enhanced TLC Driver License Renewal Course includes new materials regarding customer service and traffic safety, highlighting resources available for licensed drivers. Driven by feedback from instructors and thousands of TLC drivers, the curriculum contains new videos designed to better educate attendees about bias and discrimination – including on the proper use of gender-neutral and non-binary language, as well as preventing discrimination based on race, disability, religion, sexual orientation, and destination. Resources are made available to drivers who experience discrimination by passengers.

The TLC has approved new schools across the five boroughs to give its licensees more options when registering for the course. All TLC-licensed drivers take the renewal course every three years and within 90 days of their expiration date.
