We are excited to share that there are two new benefits for New York’s professional drivers! There is no question that this Coronavirus pandemic has brought financial hardship for New York’s professional drivers. But there is help available.
Now through December 31, all New York State ride-hail and Black Car drivers can get FREE financial counseling. Ever wanted help with your credit score, saving for a car, or getting out of debt? Drivers Benefits is offering NY drivers free financial coaching with experts from TrustPlus. Drivers can get personalized, 1-on-1 help in English or Spanish.

We also have a new educational benefit for members of the Independent Drivers Guild (IDG). IDG partnered with SUNY Empire State College to make it easier for drivers to attain college degrees. SUNY Empire will now waive application fees for IDG members, provide scholarships, and award credits for work experience.
Here’s what that means for you:
- Attaining a college degree will now cost less and take less time if you participate in this program, making it easier to earn your college degree.
- Whether you are employed or retired, you and your family members are eligible for this opportunity!
- You now have access to more than 110 degrees through SUNY Empire – all of which can be completed online.

Finally, the Guild has continued to keep the health and safety of drivers front and center. Since the pandemic began, we’ve distributed masks, sanitizer and gloves to more than ten thousand drivers and we’ve worked with public health experts at NYU to develop evidence-based training to keep you safe on the road.
Experts say that this year more than ever it is critical to get your flu vaccine to prevent our hospital systems from being overwhelmed like they were in the spring. Additionally, the Guild advocated to win free telemedicine benefits for NY drivers as well.
