The International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) is holding its annual Driver of the Year Award, which celebrates excellence in customer service and extraordinary acts that exemplify the highest level of professionalism. Anyone who knows a licensed professional driver that should be recognized for exceptional service or leadership in the public transportation sector is encouraged to enter a submission for them. The award highlights the achievements of a driver, past or present, while working as a taxicab, limousine, sedan, black car, livery, or other type of for-hire vehicle (FHV) driver.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, taxi and FHV drivers were deemed essential workers in most jurisdictions. Many drivers around the world continued to operate during the crisis to help deliver food and packages to those in need, and to transport health care workers and others. Many drivers were on the front lines serving the public and putting themselves at risk, making them true heroes. This year, at the IATR’s Virtual Conference, the organization will honor a driver or drivers who went above and beyond to help the public during the pandemic.

Application Requirements: The nominator should submit an email with their name, title, organization, website, and phone number(s), as well as the name of the driver nominee, the name of the company or entity where the driver works, and contact information for the driver and/or the company representative who can coordinate with the driver nominee. This email should also include a narrative explaining the basis for the nomination, including any media articles, videos, or other supporting information within the nominator’s discretion.

You can submit a Driver of the Year application via e-mail to info@iatr.global. The deadline is on or before Monday, August 15. The driver of the year award may be presented at any appropriate time during this year’s conference, but is typically part of the gala awards ceremony, scheduled for 7:00pm EST on September 24.
