In the first week that it was introduced, The Black Car Fund’s (BCF’s) new TruHearing program helped equip multiple drivers with high-end hearing aids at no cost to them. Dozens more scheduled appointments and the Fund has already received hundreds of inquiries.
“It’s important to note that these are high-end hearing aids, not over-the-counter amplification devices,” explains BCF Executive Director, Ira Goldstein. “We often forget that drivers are frequently exposed to potentially harmful noise far more often than average New Yorkers. Hearing is essential to responsible driving and overall health, and this partnership with TruHearing will enable all our drivers to prioritize their hearing health so that every ride is a safe ride at no cost to them.”
Through TruHearing, eligible drivers enrolled in the BCF’s Drivers Benefits program can quickly access free audiological exams, follow-up visits from a network of more than 8,850 providers, remote care and telehealth services, and top quality hearing aids at no cost (including free batteries).
