With cold, flu, and Covid season hitting, it’s important to note that drivers enrolled in The New York Black Car Fund’s (BCF’s) Drivers Benefits program can now speak with a licensed, credentialed physician via secure chat in under 60 seconds, at any time, regardless of their current location – even from their own car while between fares. Thanks to the new program, recently introduced by The Fund’s new telemedicine provider, Cirrus MD, the benefit is offered at no cost to eligible drivers.

The newly revamped benefit, referred to as Virtual Primary Care, allows drivers to speak with a doctor about chronic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, check in about their general health, and have their urgent care and mental health concerns handled by professionals. Drivers can also get needed prescriptions filled.

The first 6,000 drivers who sign up to use this new benefit will receive a $10 gift card for Starbucks. Visit https://ny.driversbenefits.org/ today to make sure you’re enrolled in the program and sign up for the new telemedicine benefit.

“Drivers work long hours and as independent contractors, their time is their money. This can be a significant barrier to accessing healthcare,” said Ira Goldstein, the BCF’s Executive Director. “With CirrusMD, they have immediate access to a qualified doctor, whether they need primary care, urgent care, or support for chronic conditions and mental health. It’s a flexible, driver-friendly solution that empowers them to take control of their health without sacrificing work hours. Most importantly, it’s provided at absolutely no-cost to them.”
