Zohran Mamdani’s announced his Department of Transportation commissioner is Mike Flynn. Flynn, who has years of experience as a transportation official and consultant, said he is “thrilled” to be joining the administration because Mamdani and his team “fundamentally understands the role that transportation plays in the day-to-day lives of New Yorkers.”

“Congratulations to my friend Mike Flynn on his appointment as NYC DOT Commissioner. Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s bold mobility agenda, from Vision Zero to free buses, will require an out-of-the box planner and thinker – with operational experience – who knows how things work in both government and the private sector,” said Matthew W. Daus, Esq., Founder and Chair of the Windels Marx Transportation Practice Group. “Commissioner Flynn has the perspective, experience and know-how to make big things happen to help solve the affordability crisis that is impacting so many New Yorkers on the basic human right of mobility.”
