47016162 – green light on a background of city
The Department of Transportation (DOT) worked to fix multiple malfunctioning traffic lights across the city in February. In the early-morning hours of February 5, lights at many intersections started flashing yellow and red due to a disruption in a routine software upgrade – something typically done on weekend nights. According to the City, less than 5% of the city’s traffic lights were affected.
The DOT tells drivers that they should make a full stop at flashing lights, before proceeding, when contractors work on lights to make them operational.
