The New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) reminded its licensees in July to follow TLC rule 67-19(a)(2) if someone is applying for a Vehicle Retirement Extension (VRE) based on an economic or personal hardship. According to the TLC: “Pursuant to TLC Rule 67-19(a)(2), vehicle owners must submit a Vehicle Retirement Extension application, together with any supporting documentation, to the [TLC] at least 30 days before their scheduled retirement date. This 30-day deadline may be waived upon a showing of good cause. Failure to submit an application within the 30 days of the scheduled retirement date will result in an automatic denial of the Vehicle Retirement Extension application.”
