There is something horrible that happens to almost every chauffeur. Limo Driver Gut!
Since I started driving more than five years ago, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve gained 20 pounds! A friend recently asked me: “Are you expecting?” (Nice friend, right?)
I try hard to avoid the tasty triple cheeseburger, but the temptation is just too powerful! Here is the scenario: I’ve just dropped off a passenger at JFK and they give me a “Jackson” for my exceptional navigational skills and superior customer service. What happens next is one of the true hazards of this jobs… Fast Food! It tastes so good and seems to always be beckoning me to come hither.
In December, Burger King was offering an innovative incentive:
- Download Burger King app
- Drive by any McDonalds
- Select nearest Burger King
- Get a whopper for a penny!
I went to Burger King every day for my penny whopper. Guess what! Now I’m hooked on Whoppers.
Yes, I do all the gimmicks the fast food places offer: downloading their apps, filling out surveys on the back of the receipts to get free food and looking for deals and special offers. Burger King used to give free coffee with any purchase if you have an AARP Card (which I do), but they no longer offer this. I still try, though, and sometimes the person at the counter lets me have it. McDonalds offers a free breakfast or lunch sandwich with the purchase (Burger King & Wendy’s offers this as well). Wendy’s has a great offer every December: Purchase a key tag for $2 that is a donation to the Dave Thomas Adoption Foundation and you get a free frosty (chocolate or vanilla) every day for a year! That’s a sweet deal!
So, what’s my plan? I need to eat more healthy so I can lose the 20 pounds I’ve gained. Since I live next to a YMCA, I guess I should join it and start a workout regimen.
I guess you might call this a New Year’s Resolution. Let’s see how long it lasts!
