New York City is now the first city to approve the Tesla Model 3 Electric Vehicle (EV) as an official yellow cab. The NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) approved the Model 3 in Oct. 2019, but it only recently became official, with the first Model 3 yellow cabs starting to hit the streets.
According to some experts, people are starting to run the numbers and concluding that after both the fuel and maintenance savings, EVs can pay for themselves. Police departments have started buying Tesla Model 3s for the very same reasons. The trend is expected to accelerate in 2021.
