Vehicles that fail their initial inspection must return to TLC’s Woodside facility for a reinspection to remain licensed. As of Nov. 12, vehicle owners no longer need to pay in advance for vehicle re-inspections when they arrive at TLC’s Woodside facility. Reinspection fees must be paid online after the reinspection at nyc.gov/lars.

A reinspection fee is only owed if a vehicle fails its initial inspection and is brought back and re-inspected after making the necessary repairs. The fee is owed regardless of whether the vehicle passes or fails the reinspection. The due date is listed on the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR). If you do not pay the fee, you will receive a summons. If found guilty, you may be fined $300 and have your TLC license suspended.

Vehicle owners will need the following information available when logging into LARS to make a payment:

  • TLC License Number
  • Mailing ZIP code associated with your license
  • The last 5 Digits of your EIN or SSN
