The National Limousine Association (NLA) announced it is targeting emissions through it GreenRides initiative, which lays out a detailed plan for members to reduce their carbon footprint. The NLA is encouraging individual owners and fleet managers to purchase low-emission and electric vehicles (EVs), reminding members to take advantage of tax credits at the state and federal level.

The NLA is also proposing the use of advanced vehicle telematics and route optimization systems to minimize fuel consumption and improve efficiency, much like airlines. Reduced water usage through waterless car wash techniques and environmentally friendly solvents are also recommended.

The NLA says it will be maintaining a data-sharing platform to collect and analyze sustainability data to achieve a standardized sustainability metric for the industry. The organization says it has sweeping support from the ground transportation sector, with 92% of Global Industry Barometer survey respondents marking greener business travel as their top priority.
