I have five different jobs, so I wear five different hats…. and I enjoy each one of them.
My main job (or hat) is Chauffeur. This is where I earn most of my money. My four other jobs – or side hustles – bring in about $2,500, but I enjoy them, too, and they help me pay my bills.
Professional Chauffeur.I’ve been a professional chauffeur since October 2013. It’s the best job I’ve ever had. I’m also a trainer and mentor for newly-hired drivers. I enjoy this aspect of my job very much.
Published Author.Writing about my funny, true life experiences is my big passion. In 1985, I graduated from New York University with a degree in Journalism. Writing has always been a passion of mine. Often, I write about my experiences as a road warrior.
Skin Product Tester. This is easy money, but it takes a long time to get a little money. I’ve tested shaving cream, lip balm and various fragrances. The sponsor checks for any skin reactions from the product. It’s interesting to test products that haven’t hit the market yet.
Opinion Research Panelist. This is an interesting and fun way to earn a few extra bucks. Usually, the sponsor of the study wants to know what I think about a new idea or product. My last opinion research project was about Alka Seltzer in a new gum form.
College Paper Writer.Writing term papers was not my favorite thing to do in college. Helping college students write their term papers is interesting, however. I’ve written papers on the Welfare to Work program of the late 1990s and an analysis of the FHV and TNC market. This gig helped me pay a bill or two.
Although being a chauffeur accounts for 95% of my income, these four other side gigs make life a little more interesting and help me pay my bills. As I like to say, every ride and every gig pays a bill.
