According to the Livery Roundtable (LRT), several livery bases failed to pay their membership dues to Hereford Insurance Company, the insurance carrier for the New York Independent Livery Driver Benefit Fund – and were sent a Notice of Cancellation. A base with a canceled membership has no Workers’ Compensation coverage with the Fund, unless they have a private policy. If not, they are in violation of the law and must pay their premiums immediately or risk being subject to fines, a base license suspension, and/or risk personal liability in the event an affiliated driver is injured while working.
