The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) announced the launch of a Direct Dispatch Trial at LaGuardia Airport (LGA), which began in mid-November. The goal: to reduce traffic and improve travel times for vehicles using the airport.
According to the PANYNJ, the P7 staging lot will not serve as the dispatching point for drivers to terminal stacks. Instead, drivers can choose which terminal taxi hold they want to report to and to drive straight to the hold to await dispatch. IMPORTANT NOTE: Drivers may be re-dispatched to another terminal taxi hold by LGA taxi dispatch staff if one becomes too full or another needs vehicles. Look for variable message signs that indicate whether a hold lot is open or full.
The LGA Taxi Driver Information Dashboard was taken offline in Nov. for upgrades to reflect the Direct Dispatch Trial. View the entire notice by visiting https://www.panynj.gov/port-authority/en/help-center/contact-us.html.
