The New York Black Car Fund is enhancing its benefits programs for covered drivers, even when they are not working. This includes raising the minimum net payment by nearly 40% and increasing the age of eligibility from 65 to 70 years old.

The Fund also recently added a new Critical Illness Benefit that pays drivers up to $20,000 if they become stricken with certain serious illnesses.

The start date for the new and improved benefits had not been announced as of mid-May but are expected to be implemented this summer. For more information, call The Black Car Fund at 212.269.4800 or visit www.nybcf.org.

The Black Car Fund’s Driver Education Course is now available online. Participating drivers can take this course once every three years and receive $75 for completing it online. You can sign up at: https://drivered.nybcf.org/.

In-person courses – which pay $300 – are available, but spots are limited, according to The Black Car Fund.
