While Electric Vehicles (EVs) are similar to traditional vehicles, they require more costly, upgraded tires because they are heavier than standard cars and accelerate with much higher levels of torque. EV tires are now widely available and built to handle these issues, as well as increasing charge range and making less noise.
It’s generally safe to install standard tires on an EV but expect a significant drop in performance and durability. They also likely won’t reduce overall costs because they have to be replaced more often. Despite their special construction, EV tires still wear down faster than those on a standard vehicle because they must work harder.
