A Rockland County man is facing multiple charges after police say he was found drunk behind the wheel of a taxicab with a minor inside, in April. Ramapo police arrested 24yearold Anderson BenitezMorales in Airmont around 7:30am. Police first spotted BenitezMorales and a passenger “passed out inside a taxi.” When the officer attempted to speak with him, BenitezMorales put the vehicle in drive and tried to jump a curb to escape. Officers stopped him and took him into custody.
Police say the passenger was 15 years old but are not identifying the teen or explaining the relationship between the two because of the passenger’s age. BenitezMorales is charged with driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law because a minor was in the vehicle. He is also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation due to six previous license suspensions, along with endangering the welfare of a child and obstructing governmental administration.
