A man was accused of stealing a taxicab at gunpoint on March 22, on West 33rd Street around 12:27am. Police identified the suspect as Joseph Ryce, 28, of New York. The 53yearold taxi driver was parked in front of the building when Ryce allegedly got into the cab and brandished a gun. He then drove off on 10th Ave. Police tracked the vehicle near Canal Street and Lafayette Street, where the cab was recovered. Ryce was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery, grand larceny, reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing from a police officer, two counts of possession of stolen property, menacing, obstructing governmental administration and unauthorized use of a vehicle, officials said. No injuries were reported by police.
