Black Car MPG Mandate Postponed
The New York City Taxicab & Limousine Commission has decided to postpone the Black Car miles per gallon (mpg) regulation for one year. The regulation, which would have required newly licensed Black Cars to meet a standard of 25 miles per gallon starting January 1, 2009 (increasing to 30 mpg the following year) is being postponed until January 2010. The mandatory vehicle retirement requirements that were also part of these regulations has also been deferred for one year.
